We hit a major new parenting milestone today. The Trunk-or-Treat. Held at Will's daycare, the general idea is that the parents show up at 3:30 to decorate cars and then the kids come through at 4 p.m. to collect candy. Well, some kids.
William wasn't terribly interested in the whole candy collection thing. Here's what he did do in an hour. Or, rather, what we caught on film. And, for the record, he was the wildest of the bunch. By far. And that included five-year-olds hopped up on sugar.
He ran away from his teacher.
He sat in our tailgating chair (general consensus that coolers for the parents would have been a very good addition to the event. Being the room parent leader that I am, I floated the idea to the assistant director. She seemed in favor.)
He read a book that Mom had left in the trunk from last weekend.
He played with a train that was in the trunk.
He got mad when Mom tried to make him smile.
He handed out candy. I mean, Will loved handing out the candy. He got mad when there weren't kids at the car to give the candy to.
Key photos missing include, but are not limited to: running around and putting candy in other candy dishes, taking a 10 minute break to run around in a field, playing with Vivian*, attempting to leave the confines of the trunk or treat, trying to get in other cars, and trying very hard to re-arrange the back of my truck.
*It is important to note that Will calls Vivian by name (Vie Vie), Oliver by name (All), and Ethan by name (Eee). However, we have yet to broach the word Mama. I'm just saying.
