Catawba Science Center

We loaded up the car today and headed towards Hickory. We had a special passenger -- GiGi was game and rode in the third row. Our destination was the Catawba Science Center, which is a really cool children's science museum. Our draw was free admission I won via WFAE and Twitter, specifically promoting the traveling Dinosaur Exhibit.

The special exhibit was fun, with 1/3 scale robotic dinos. They roared (Will ran around with his hands over his ears, my sensitive boy), and there were few fossil digging stations.

The museum itself was in a converted high school building, so each exhibit area was in a small space. There was even an aquarium! A big hit was the human centrifuge, which required all of us to sit down in the circular seat and whirl ourselves around. Sadly (note sarcasm) no pictures or videos exist of this fun little "ride."

After the museum we met Aunt Becky and Uncle Jim for lunch before driving back to Charlotte. It was really good to see them both, especially when Jim egged Will on a bit. Mark didn't miss the opportunity to make the connection between the Whichard in Will's name and well, Jim Whichard.

Here are the few photos I managed to grab.
